The Gentle Leader Collar.

The Gentle Leader collar, is similar in shape to halters on ponies. The gentle leader collar cannot be left on as it sits loose enough for a dog to shake or pull it of with it’s paw. In fact a determined dog can whip the Gentle Leader off while being lead, unless the handler is very alert.

Some very strong minded, or strong willed dogs do take a few trips out to accept the gentle leader collar, as they object to the control that it gives you. They will repeat the same objections if they are not regularly exercised with the Gentle Leader on.

The Gentle Leader is a very useful collar if your dog is very determined to pull, on the lead, and you have not got the time or inclination to train him to walk gently. But do not be surprised if some people give you a wide birth as a lot of people think it is a devise to stop your dog biting. It is not what the Gentle Leader was designed for but it can, to some extent, serve that purpose as well.

The Gentle Leader collar does need to fit properly, it is not expensive, and it will stop your dog from pulling after a short training period, but it does not  “train” your dog. The gentle leader collar is a restraining device not a training tool.

The Gentle Leader is a great "quick fix" tool.
