Dog Training Collars
There are a very wide variety of training
collars on the market, all of them with advantages and disadvantages. All are probably perfectly able to do the job required, in
varying lengths of time.
Different trainers will convince you that their particular “training collar” method is best. You have to choose which one
you think suits you,and your dog, if one collar does not work, then you have to try another collar until you find one that does the
job.
It might not be the collar that is not working properly; it may be that you are not using it correctly, or that your dog does not
respond to it, or a mixture of all points.
But do not give up there is nothing like having the satisfaction of a well trained dog at the end of the lead, instead of the
annoyance and frustration of being pulled along endlessly, with you getting tired before the dog.
Dogs are cleaver enough to become “collar
wise”. If you put a training collar on just before a training session, your dog will behave as he should, but become
badly behaved when the collar is taken off, so any training collar really needs to be left on until you know that your dog fully
trained, and will not question you.
Some might think it cruel but I, for one, would use it to prevent my beloved dog from having to be
destroyed if she was found chasing sheep.
